Nomura Sensei began training in 1973 at the University of California Aikido Club, Los Angeles. Her teachers have been Shihans T.K. Chiba and Pablo Vazquez. In 1979 she and Vazquez Sensei founded the West Los Angeles Aikido Institute where she taught for 20 years. In 1999 she moved to the San Francisco Bay area and founded Aikido Institute of San Francisco, of which she is the chief instructor. She has also taught in Spain, Germany, Mexico, Guatemala, Russia, Greece, France, England, Czech Republic, and Argentina. Nomura Sensei is a member of the Senior Council of the United States Aikido Federation-Western Region, and is a certified Iaido (Battoho) instructor. She has studied Iaido with T.K. Chiba Shihan and Takeshi Mitsuzuka, 8th dan Iaido master. Nomura Sensei has been featured in two other videos, The Art of Iaido, Way of the Sword (2003), and Aikido, Zen in the Martial Arts (1987).
