Susan Wolk
6th Dan, Shidoin, Aikido of Northampton
Wolk Sensei started training in 1975 at the University of Massachusetts with Tai Unno Sensei. Her teachers have been Taitetsu Unno, from Hombu Dojo, Mutsuko Minegishi, Mike Sheahon, Kanai Sensei and Yamada Sensei. She started teaching at Aikido of Northampton in 1982. In 1984, she became the general secretary of the U.S. Aikido Federation and has held that post ever since. She also teaches aikido seminars around the country.
"I think it's an important thing to have women be aikido teachers. I think it's important for them to be showcased at big seminars where shidoin teach. I think it's important for women to be included in that because I think it is inspiring for younger women students."
